Tropical Themed Food Photography, Santa Barbara, CA

Talk about a long night….

Last night I helped out a couple friends with a food shoot they have been wanting to do. They had an idea, a chef and plenty of props. I came in with the technical know how and equipment to make it come together. The whole thing was a collaborative effort between two other photographers, Ramsey and Mike, and the chef Lee. We all had input on composition, propping and lighting. We started setting up at about 9:30pm and I got home at around 3:45 and we only got 3 dishes done. Either way, we had a great time with some great food.

So here are some set shots along with the finalish photos.

What is not shown in the setup is the handheld refinements in lighting. We were hold small mirrors, reflectors and focused lights to really enhance the image during the final shots.
